Our Beach, Our Story

This 250 meter cove on Koh Samui's east coast goes by three names. Crystal Bay is the name the resorts use. Silver Beach (Haad Thong Takhian) is the name you will find on local maps and TripAdvisor. Thong Takhian is the original Thai name. All three refer to the same sheltered crescent of white sand tucked between Chaweng and Lamai.

The bay is framed by smooth granite boulders on both sides, creating calm, clear water year round. No strong currents, no big waves, just a gentle slope into turquoise water that stays shallow for 30 meters from shore. It is one of the few beaches on Koh Samui where you can swim comfortably in any season.

Fah Thai Magazine, the Bangkok Airways inflight publication, called it "one of the most picturesque beaches in the country." TripAdvisor rates it the number one beach on Koh Samui. We are biased, of course, but we think they got it right.

Crystal Bay combines European service standards and attention to detail with genuine Thai warmth and hospitality. Our team personally oversees every detail, from the restaurant menu to the room renovations, because we believe the small things make the difference.

We are honest about what we are. These are three star properties, not five star resorts. You will not find marble lobbies or butler service here.
